Meeting Ashley McMakin!

What a wonderful day I have had today. First of all, it was sunny and gorgeous outside. And as if that wasn't enough, I had the grand opportunity of speaking with and interviewing Ashley McMakin, owner of Ashley Mac's, which provides corporate catering here in Birmingham. To be honest, the interview was part of my final project for my Interviewing class but the good part is that we were able to choose who we wanted to interview and I chose Mrs. McMakin because she has a really cool story. Check out the section entitled "About Us" on her website, http://www.ashleymacs.com/ and you'll see why I find her so fascinating. I haven't been able to test out any new dishes in the last few weeks because I was recuperating from minor surgery but I'm back folks and now it's time to start cooking. Now, without further ado, next up on the menu....(drum roll please) Beef Bourguignon!!! I have been very anxious to tackle this dish ever since I saw the movie, "Julie & Julia" but the idea of the estimated time involved and complexity of the dish prompted me on many occasions to simply stick with my boring old pot roast. Those days are over! I feel invigorated, I feel empowered and most importantly, I'm sick to death of that boring old pot roast:-). With grocery list in hand, I'm off to Publix and the next time you hear from me, I'll be savoring every morsel of this wonderfully classic French stew and wishing you were here to enjoy it with me.
