Apple Crisp

This is a dessert that my grandmother Lillie use to make when I was younger.  If you like apple pie, apple cobbler or any type of apple dessert, you'll love this.  It's very quick and easy to make.  If you fancy yourself a baker, you probably already have the ingredients that you'll need to make this recipe.  The beauty of this dessert is that you can make a large batch of it or follow my lead and make it just for two.

Final Thoughts.....It just wouldn't be right to eat this dessert without a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top.

Ingredients:

1 very large Granny Smith Apple
1/2 cup of brown sugar
1 tbsp. granulated sugar
1/4 cup of all purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon of cinnamon
2 tbsp. butter

Directions:

1.   Preheat over to 350.  Peel apple and cut into in 1/2 inch chunks.  (*Tip - coat apples in pineapple or lemon juice to keep from browning.)

2.   Mix brown sugar, flour and butter until moist.

3.   Drain excess juice from the apples and coat with sugar and cinnamon.

4.   Pour apples into small greased casserole dish or divide between two greased ramekin cups.

5.   Top with with brown sugar mixture.

6.   Bake for approximately 25 minutes.

7.   Remove from oven, let cool for about 5 minutes and then serve.
